What is Neighbour Cares about?Neighbour Cares hopes to build a community of volunteers to check in on seniors (with a focus on isolated seniors living in rental flats) regularly to monitor their well-being and take note of signs of distress. Akin to how a good neighbor will care for the people around, volunteers are to befriend the seniors and encourage them to be more engaged with their community. Volunteer Befriender
Volunteers will be doing a weekly engagement with seniors through
Doorstep visits to the households with isolated seniors.
Filling up an online form after each visit to report on the senior's status.
Befriending the senior (should the senior be willing) to encourage them to be active and stay connected and plugged-in with their community.
Volunteers are to be responsible and commit to the once-per-week visits to the senior
Volunteers should be able to speak English and one other language:
Ability to converse in Mandarin (majority of the seniors are Chinese-speaking), Malay or Tamil
Knowledge of dialects (Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka, Teochew) will be an added bonus
Engagement Details:
Frequency of Visit: Once per week
Duration of Neighbour Cares: 11 weeks
Day/Time of weekly visit:
Weeks 1,2,10 and 11 are compulsory - dates and timings are fixed and must be strictly adhered to
Weeks 3 to 9 are flexible - dates and timings are flexible (the fixed timing below is for admin purposes only)
