ABOUT

  • Hello! We are Project Math Monkeys, a group of aspirants from the 29th cohort of the Youth Corps Leaders Programme. In partnership with Boon Lay Youth Network and supported by educational therapists from Care Corner Singapore, we are excited to start recruiting volunteers for KidsCount@BoonLay! 

    KidsCount aims to support students who have lower access to resources, developing their numeracy skills through fun and enriching activities whilst cultivating their desire to learn. In addition, our project seeks to empower youth volunteers, where volunteers will be given the opportunity to play the role of a ‘big brother/sister’ throughout the programme. 

    Come join us to help create a fun and enriching learning space and make a difference in these young lives! 

    This opportunity is a youth-led initiative part of Youth Corps Leaders Programme.

Volunteer Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender (VB), you will get the opportunity to befriend and engage children through a range of fun numeracy activities. You are strongly encouraged to commit to at least 4 sessions. Volunteers who signed up for more slots will stand a higher chance to be chosen. Kindly note the following commitments before registering:

 

Compulsory Volunteers Development sessions

1. Volunteers welcome and bonding session [details TBC]

2. Orientation and Training [O&T]: 15 July 2023, Sat 0930-0500hrs @ Bedok Green Primary School

 

Sessions with the children (Sat)

Children rapport building session: 29 July 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 1: 5 August 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 2: 12 August 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 3: 19 August 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 4: 26 August 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 5: 9 September 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 6: 16 September 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Teaching session 7: 23 September 2023, 1230-1500hrs

Celebration Finale: 30 September 2023, 1300-1900hrs
