Team Nila Volunteers
Requirements (Please read before signing up):• Volunteers must commit by signing up for at least 2 sessions or more.• Volunteers who withdraw last minute (without a valid reason) may be penalised and will not be allowed to sign up for future PlayAbility sessions.• Please be punctual and arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your shift.Before and after the session:• Assist in changing over the court before and after the session.• Assist the coach with setting up the court and preparing the sports equipment for the session.• Assist the coach in packing up and storing the sports equipment after the session ends.• Assist the coach with SMM (helping to clean and sanitise sports equipment, maintain hygiene standards, etc.).During the session:• Help gather the participants for warm-up.• Participate in the warm-up together with the participants.• Assist in gathering participants into their respective groupings according to the coach’s instructions.• Participate in drills and games with the participants, e.g. passing/serving balls/shuttlecocks to participants, and shadowing participants if required.• Help gather the participants for cool down.• Participate in cool down together with the participants.Additional Requirements:• Experience in interacting with/managing people with special needs preferred but not compulsory (volunteers are encouraged to learn more about people with special needs and have a basic understanding of their behaviour before their first session).• Encourage participants/caregivers to participate in sports to improve their physical and mental health.• Engage participants meaningfully to improve their social/communication skills.• Have an open mind to befriend the participants with special needs and to learn from our disability sports coaches.• Be open to picking up basic sport skills as coaches will be assessing their capabilities to determine suitable tasks given during the session.
Special Details to Note:• Volunteers are to be dressed in Team Nila Shirt and covered shoes – volunteers with inappropriate attire will be denied duty.• Volunteers are required to be punctual as sessions will usually start with a self-introduction to the participants.• No photo taking during the session.
